Stay away from these if you're playing version 1.01. The ion disruptor will damage your equipment permanently (unless you can repair it somewhere or with something).
====1.08b====
The Tev 9s will do decent damage, and the ion disruptor will "ionize" your equipment. Ionization will make equipment act like it's damaged, but will wear off over time.
====Other====
In either version, shields, and/or +Ion or +deviceProtect armor, will protect from the effects.
