The Styrtan War
The first war between the Commonwealth and the Ares was a result of increasing tensions between Earth and Mars. This was the first was of its kind, breaking into an intra-system conflict. The conflict was started due to issues about genetic engineering, since ares geneticists had started to break taboos such as cloning of people. Soon, the Ares had tampered with their genetic code until they became vastly genetically different from Earthbound humans.
This was not, however, a singular event. It was the result of space faring colonies, with their newly found independence, loss of instantaneous contact with Earth, and the breaking of economic ties with the main Earth government that they did start onto the path of war.
This war also saw extensive use of ships like the Scarab, and other freighters that really started to accelerate space travel technologies.
